Mariner Energy cited for two violations in past six months, totaling $55,000
by Joseph Romm. I know that you are shocked, shocked to learn the
owner of the offshore oil and gas platform that exploded yesterday
in the Gulf of Mexico had two violations just this year from the
Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s Outer Continental Shelf

offices of some 49 million Americans, according to a report by The
New York Times. Some of those violations were short-lived while
others went on for years. Federal and state regulators were
informed of each violation as it occurred, yet only 6 percent of
the law-breaking water systems were ever fined or called to account
in some way, accor...

treats wood waste as an infinitely renewable source of
energy, like sunlight and wind. But is
it? Biomass sceptics have pointed to high costs (in
money and in energy) to collect, transport and handle wood waste,
especially as fuel for electrical
generation. Now, Trent Professor Shawn
